3 Rapid Weight Loss Approaches
Losing weight fast is one of the most common self-improvements you might want to make.
You could be aiming to lose just a few – say 5 or 10 pounds just to help you fit into your clothes better or look toned and fit. Or you could be after some significant weight loss over 50 pounds or more to improve your health. No matter the reason, you are likely to be looking for a safe, effective way to experience rapid weight loss.
Where can you find this kind of diet?
First steps first! Before beginning any type of diet or exercise program that promotes rapid weight loss, it's important that you consult your doctor if you have or are likely to have any medical conditions or complications from the weight loss. Your doctor will probably say losing extra pounds is a good idea.
However, if you have pre-existing health issues, the strain of a rapid weight loss diet could lead to serious problems. That's why I say it's important. Your safety is worth the short meeting – there is no point in losing weight to become unhealthier.
Once you get medical clearance, there are several ways to lose weight fast. One of the most common is through a rigorous diet and exercise program. Most of these programs are designed to reduce your intake of fat and calories while getting you to become more active. These programs are generally good for you because they encourage walking and perhaps even jogging or cycling. At the same time they often restrict the eating the worst elements of the Standard American Diet; cookies, ice cream, french fries, pizza, fried chicken and carbonated drinks.
You probably know though, it takes a lot of willpower to stick to a strict regimen like this, but the rapid weight loss that usually follows is a nice reward.
Some people are always looking for short cuts – they don't want to go through the structure of a typical weight loss diet and exercise program. Instead, they might choose to try a rapid weight loss fad such as cleansing or fasting. Don't do it! Most nutrition experts actively recommend against these methods. I know there are some success stories out there with these techniques, but they do not help you solve the eating problem in the long run. Again, check with your doctor before doing anything like this.
Perhaps you have already tried all the other ways to be slim and are getting really desperate? Then you might want to consider gastric bypass surgery or lap bands. This medical procedure is for people whose weight is very high and is causing serious health problems. You may choose this surgery option to achieve rapid weight loss in order to help their body heal when all else has failed. The surgery is a last resort because surgery is never without risk. Also, it is expensive, if it is not covered by your health insurance, and recovery from the surgery process is painful for most people. So there you have it three ways to lose some weight – some more drastic than others.
In most cases, you are best to aim for a diet program that helps you lose weight AND teaches you the lifestyle changes you need to make to keep it off. When you can really get that, you'll have a much greater chance of losing weight fast AND keeping the weight off. That's something we all want to achieve!
